Participate by signing up for the 2014 tournament, or by donating your time, money, or both, to the Make A Wish Foundation® or the Tuna Challenge event. Come by our Tuna Challenge booth at one of the special events below to donate or for more information on how you can help.
Fishing is better than it has been in years and we are just 1 week away from our tournament. We have 65 boats signed up to fish (as of Thursday, August 14th) so you do not want to be that boat sitting at home next weekend wishing you had gone fishing. Sign up today online or print the entry form and mail it in. You can sign up right up until the Captain’s Meeting on Friday, August 22nd, so hurry and don't be left out.
From Ken Franke, the President of the SAC (Sportfishing Association of California):
"This afternoon the SAC legal office in Mexico City received verbal notice from CONAPESCA that recreational fishing for bluefin tuna can resume in Mexican waters immediately. SAC has been informed that the written notification should be available on Monday morning for dissemination to the public." - August 10, 2014
This is great news for our tournament and all fisherman heading into Mexican waters.
2014 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge. In this very special year, in addition to our already great angler prizes, we are introducing an optional twist to the friendly competition. For an additional fee ($50 per boat per side pot) each registered boat (team) can compete for a $500 cash prize (per side pot) for the largest yellowtail and the largest dorado. Only boats that have paid for the additional side pot entrance fee will be eligible for each $500 cash prize, which will be paid to the team captain. All paid anglers in the tournament are eligible for the individual prize for the largest yellowtail and the largest dorado, regardless of whether their team has entered the additional side pot or not. We encourage all teams to enter the two additional side pots ($50 per side pot per team), as 100% of the net proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and help wishes come true for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
We still have some of our custom 25th anniversary T-Shirts. This shirt has custom, special edition artwork for this year's event so get yours before they are all gone.
